Nursing & Medications

Pre-Send Medication
Weeklong and Travel campers:  All medications need to be packaged through a pharmacy and sent 2 weeks in advance for weeklong and travel sessions.

Please make sure medications and topicals are updated in the campers application before they arrive at Camp Courageous.  If the medication and treatments are not updated in the application this drastically slows down the check-in process. Note that camper apps and medications will be locked out approximately two weeks prior to a scheduled arrival date.

Med PackagedContact Your Pharmacy

ALL oral medications should be sent as PHARMACY pre-packaged medications a minimum of 2 weeks in advance of the campers camp session.

If the pharmacy does not pre-package medication, all medications should be brought in original bottles.  Please have the exact amount needed for full Camp session plus 1 extra dose at check-in.  For example, if camp session is from Sunday through Friday the camper will need 6 doses plus one extra dose (7 total doses).

Please do not bring any more doses than what is needed plus the one extra dose. Excessive amounts of medication will add to check-in and check-out time.

Topicals and Liquid Medications

Treatments, topicals, and liquid medications must be brought to the nursing area check-in on day of arrival. Keep them in their original packaging. They do not need to be prepared by a pharmacy.

Pill Pack

Pharmacy-prepared Pill Pack. One pack of pills for each time doses are prescribed.

Blister Pack

Pharmacy-prepared Blister Pack. One blister/bubble of pills for each time doses are prescribed.

Liquids and Topicals

Liquids and topics remain in their containers. No preparation by pharmacy needed.

An individual must be medically stable and must not be a safety risk to self or others in order to attend a session at Camp Courageous. Camp Courageous reserves the right to determine an individual’s eligibility to attend a session or camper-related events.

Medications will be administered at meal times and bedtime, which are generally around 8:00 a.m. (AM), 12:00 p.m. (NOON), 5:30 p.m. (PM) and 8:30 p.m. (HS).  If a camper’s medication time differs, please note time in special instructions for the medication.

Non-pill form medication should be brought in their original containers.  Liquid, powders and lotions do not need to be pre-sent.  They will be reviewed and turned in at the time of check in.
