Iowa State Basketball Day Trip!

Day 1

Hello Camp Courageous!
We had a wonderful time at the Women’s ISU Basketball game on Saturday!! We started off our day picking up travelers. We met travelers, Ron, Darren, Greg, Susie, Allan, Katie, Doug and Kevin along with volunteers, Diane, Antwan and Brenda at Camp. We then made our way to Marion to pick up volunteer Nicole. Our last stop was the Coralville Culver’s, where we picked up travelers Tanna, Harrison, Phillip and Shaila and had lunch. To our surprise, it started snowing while we having lunch! The travelers were excited about the game and the snow! They were decked out in their Cyclone gear and couldn’t wait to get to Ames!
After lunch we started our drive to Ames.  The snow eventually stopped and the sun came out! We are at Hilton Coliseum around 2pm. We met up with traveler Danielle and volunteers Carina and Kim before making our way to our seats! We had a great view of the court! Once we got settled the travelers did some shopping for Cyclone gear! The travelers also got to take home some posters! They were thrilled!
Right before the game started the Sparkle Squad, which is an inclusive cheering squad came onto the court to perform! It was awesome to see and the travelers were dancing and singing along at their seats. Next up it was time for the Iowa State vs Texas Tech Women’s Basketball game! The travelers started cheering for the Lady Cyclones right away! Texas Tech scored first but ISU pulled ahead! At half time, ISU was ahead 42-28!! The travelers were pumped!! We grabbed some food for dinner and watched the rest of the game. The travelers also were visited by the Cyclone’s mascot, Cy!! ISU came out victorious with a score of 69-57 over Texas Tech. The Travels were on their feet cheering for the Lady Cyclones!!
On our way out of the stadium we stopped to take some group photos before loading the bus. We dropped off travelers in Coralville, Marion and Camp. Thanks to all of the travelers for joining us on this trip! We hoped you had a blast! Thanks to all of our volunteers for all of their help!
