Dave was a true joy to be around. His deep belly laugh was contagious. He had a genuine love for life and particularly for nature. He was a gifted craftsman, creating beautiful treasures from his own wood. Camp Courageous’ sincere sympathy goes out to Dave’s wife, Susan, and his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
Camp Courageous Mourns the Passing of Dr. David Gilchrist
Camp Courageous was saddened by the passing of Dr. David Gilchrist, 80, of Monticello. Dave was a veterinarian in Monticello from 1970 until his retirement in 1998. During these years, he and the entire Monticello Veterinary Clinic provided all of Camp Courageous’ veterinary needs for no cost. One could see Dave at Camp at any hour of the day tending to a horse, baby goat, sheep, you name it. He always took pride in his work at Camp. In addition to supporting the camp with veterinary services, Dave and his wife, Susan, often attended Camp’s breakfasts and other fundraisers.
