Prairie Park Fishery
2125 Otis Rd SE – Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Part of the Heartland of America triathlon Series.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2018 CC Sprint Tri. Although rain-delayed, it was a great race morning!!
PRACTICE SWIM – Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 1PM to 2PM at Prairie Park Fishery. Because swimming is not allowed normally at the park, this is your only chance to get into the water prior to race day. Only registered participants are allowed to enter the water, so please check-in upon arrival.
The 2018 Camp Courageous Sprint Triathlon will be held entirely at the Prairie Park Fishery in Cedar Rapids, IA. The event starts at 8:00 AM. It is located at 2125 Otis Road SE. This city park is located on the southeast side of Cedar Rapids where the Sac and Fox trails meet, along with the Prairie Park Fishery Loop (hard surface trail loops around the 65 acre lake).
There is no age limit for entering the Camp Courageous Sprint Triathlon. Youth and adults that are prepared to participate in a triathlon are welcome to signup. Although many will be competing for place and time during this event, casual athletes are welcome. Because this is a sprint triathlon, there will be many first-time athletes.

Distances for the 2018 Camp Courageous Sprint Triathlon will be:

SWIM MAP – approx. 500 yards:
The 2018 swim route will be an out and back in the water of the Prairie Park Fishery. This lake is fresh water. It is NOT water from the Cedar River. The river does not flow into this lake. (Click map to view in own window.)
BIKE MAP – approx. 15 miles:
The 2018 bike route will be a double-loop on the fast, flat Otis Road SE. in Cedar Rapids. Bikers will leave the transition area and go North out of the park, turn right onto Otis Rd, and then turn when they get to Steward Rd SE. They will then be on loop 1 which takes Otis Rd out to Bertram Rd and then turns around. They will come back to Steward Rd SE and then be on loop 2. Once they finish loop 2 they will stay on Otis Rd and return to the park.
RUN MAP – approx. 3.4 miles:
The 2018 run will be two loops around the 65 acre lake. This hard-surfaced trail will give runners a shaded and picturesque view of the lake and Cedar River. Start will come out of transition on the north side. (Click map to see in own window.)
