Camp Courageous of Iowa is fortunate to have wonderful facilities for camper activities and accomodations. It is through these facilities that the camp can provide the best care possible to all campers.
Lodge: The spacious main lodge is 70’x100’ and can comfortably seat 500 people at tables or 800 people for meeting use. Campers use the lodge for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (unless there is a cookout), as well as for dances and other activities. Available within the lodge is a variety of audio, visual, and conference equipment.
Cabins: All cabins feature large rest rooms, heat/air conditioning and electricity. South Cabin has a family size kitchen available for rental. Three separate cabins are able to accommodate approximately 100 people. Each cabin has separate bedrooms, South and Pitlik Cabins have multiple rest rooms.
Indoor Pool: Completed in 2000, camp now has 2 indoor pools with unique features which make them great for year-round use. Camp provides certified lifeguards during camper activities and pool rentals. This is one of the favorite activites of the campers attending Camp Courageous of Iowa. The pools also provide excellent opportunities for birthday parties, family gatherings, or fun company outings. An adjacent classroom is also available for use. Sill Barn: The John and Dorothy Sill Barn was completed in 2003 and provides modern amenities such as heat/air conditioning, indoor plumbing, and electricity while maintaining it’s natural look of solid oak beams assembled with wood pegs.
Rental Information
Camp Courageous of Iowa is available for rental when the camp is not in use by campers. Facilities include indoor swimming pools, gym, lodge, cabins, nature center, beautiful rustic Sill barn and several other buildings. Camp Courageous is an ideal setting for any meeting, family reunion, retreat, reception, workshop or seminar. Be it a day long, weekend, or week long program, consider Camp Courageous of Iowa for your next event.
Camp Courageous has cross country ski rental equipment available to the public. Camp lies on 80 acres of wooded land in the Pictured Rocks area of Jones County. Surrounded by thousands of acres of state primitive land, the Maquoketa River, and natural limestone caves makes this a beautiful setting for skiing or scheduling any group event.
Along with the facilities (listed above), there are a variety of other areas at camp offer many choices for rental. Each building may be rented for smaller meetings. This may include the Nature Center, Office Board Room, Office Multipurpose classroom, Program Specialist area, and more. These additional rooms are great for break-out sessions for large groups or meeting areas for smaller groups.
Equipment: The use of equipment and instruction for a variety of activities includes cross-country skiing, caving, environmental education or adventure activities can be arranged.
Dietary Services: Meals can be prepared and served for your group during your stay at camp. Meals to be catered off camp property can be arranged and special menu requests are available.
